February 10 –
Dairy farmers with over 100 cows at June 30 last year must be registered to
vote for two Meat and Wool New Zealand directors. Ron Frew is retiring in the
Western North Island but incumbent David Douglas is contesting the Central
South Island electorate. Voters can obtain registration forms by calling 0508

Election day is March 10 and Meat and Wool New Zealand’s
annual meeting will be held on March 24
in Te Kuiti.
February 16 –
Foundation for Arable Research (FAR) field day, 82 Oaklea Lane, (behind Mellow
Manor), Tamahere, Hamilton, at 10am. Speakers include Dr Trevor James of
AgResearch, on post-emergence weed control; Ed Winkle from Ohio, and Erin
Lawrence from Plant and Food, Lincoln, on zero tillage and soil quality
management; Dr Paul Johnstone, Plant and Food Research, Hawke’s Bay, on using
dairy effluent for growing maize.
