Old remedies for tutu poisoning

Half a dozen treatments to hand for tutu poisoning. One friend writes: "We always give half cup carbonate of soda, dissolved in water; and cut her ears and tail to make her bleed. Some recommend a bottle of kerosene, but we find soda best." "Old Stager," in giving the same advice, adds: "Half an hour later give a drench, with six or eight packets of Epsom salts." Another suggestion is two or three tablespoonsful liquid ammonia and one teaspoonful of baking soda in a drench of warm milk.- "Tutu-Poisoning"
